Biography Mordecai Levanon (Weiss), Painter. b. 1901, Transylvania. Immigrated 1921. Studies: Bezalel, Jerusalem. Prizes: 1938, 1948, 1960, 1961 Dizengoff Prize; Herman Struck Prize; 1957 Israel-Brazil Prize at Sao Paolo Biennale; 1948, 1968 Jerusalem Prize. 1929 Exhibited with 'Massad' Group. Participated three times in Venice Biennale, the last in 1958. Paintings at: Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Rome; Presiden's Residence, Jerusalem. From 1939 he lived in Jerusalem; from 1964 in Safed. Died 1968, Jerusalem. (The Israel Museum in Jerusalem web site)
