Lot 51036:
The llama was he most important domesticated animal in the Andes and the only pack animal of the Americas; it was able to carry a 40-50 kilogram load. In Moche art, it was sometimes depicted as a riding animal used by the disabled, priests, and certain gods in underworld scenes. Llamas were also the principal sacrificial animals in the region until the Spanish conquest. The also served as grave offerings.
