The backplate cast and decorated with floral and foliate motifs, topped with attached cast and pierced openwork plate topped with six birds, fronted by a round, finely engraved oil pan.

The “Kandil”, a memorial oil lamp for women, was kept in the home for the first year after the deceased had passed away and used on the Sabbath and holiday, after which it was given to the Synagogue. This type was the oldest and most splendid kind of lamp.
