Finely embossed and hammered with Rococco decoration and cast handles. Engraved with the year 1747, Latin initials P.D.W. and Hebrew letters P and D. Fully marked on underside, including maker’s mark.

Notes: Two-handled silver bowls were used to celebrate childbirth when brandewijn, liquor distilled from wine to which sugar and raisins were added, would be served from them with a spoon. The cast handles of this lobed bowl depict cherub faces with wings in relief against a foliate background.
