The Shlomo Tepper Judaica Collection
Lot 22522:
Standing lamp, the central stem with hands holding the hinged branches, topped by a large eagle and the domed base resting on a tripod base of three dolphins.
Height: 64 cm, length: 47 cm
Condition: Good. The large eagle finial is probably not original and was placed instead of a Star of David, which is the usual finial for this type of lamp.
Provenance: Shlomo Tepper Collection
Literature: For an almost identical menorah, see Braunstein, Susan “Five Centuries of Hanukkah Lamps from the Jewish Museum: A Catalogue Raisonné” New Haven and London: Yale University Press, 2004, p. 263, no. 279
