After his death in 1907, his workshop marked items with "Heirs of I.E.Zahoder" "Наследники ИЕЗ", which indicates the success of this workshop for a long period.
The container was probably commissioned especially as a wedding gift.
Berdichev was home to an important Jewish community in the 19th century and approximately 30 Jewish silversmiths.
