notes: For a similar piece, see "La Vie Juive au Maroc", The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, 1973, p. 45. The "Kandil", a memorial oil lamp for women, was kept in the home for the first year after the deceased had passed away and used on the Sabbath and holiday, after which it was given to the Synagogue. This type was the oldest and most splendid kind of lamp.
