Shimon Palombo (1959-), Painter. Born in Wadi Salib, Haifa, Israel, in 1959. Studies: 1984- 1988 Ecole National Suprerieure Beaux Arts, Paris. Member of The Israeli Painters’ Association, and also of Workshop 24, Bet Hayotzer, Haifa. Lives and works in Wadi Salib, Haifa, and also in Paris. Solo exhibitions: 198 Small formats, Wadi Salib, Haifa; 1982 Haifa Auditorium; 1984 “Wadi Salib”, Haifa; 1991 Tefen Musuem; 1992 Histadrut House, Haifa; 1993 “Assemblage”, Stavit Gallery, Paris; 1994 “Memories” Stavit Gallery, Paris; Beit Hayozer Gallery, Haifa; 1995 Beit Hayozer Gallery, Haifa; 1997 “Le Passage”, Zafira Gallery, Paris; 1998 De Couvent Gallery, St. Emillion, France. Participated in numerous group exhibitions in Israel and abroad. In the last few years Palombo no longer paints on canvas. He gathers bits of timber and other materiasl, joins and glues them together into a kind of relief. Over those or between the various elements he paints with his color-rich brush.
