Georges Kars (Karpeles), painter and lithographer, born in Kraluppy near Prague in 1882 and died in Geneva in 1945. Studied in the Art Academy in Munich under the guidance of Franz Stuck. In this period he met Jules Pascin, Paul Klee and Rodolf Levi. In 195 he moved to Paris where he met Juan Gris and Apollonaire, and the prominent artists of the Parisian School in the 192's and 193's. He started exhibiting in the Fall Salon in 199 and in the independent Salon in 1913. In 1939, at the beginning of World War 2 he fled to Lyon and in 1942 he fled again to Switzerland. In 1945, after the war, he committed suicide in his hotel room in Geneva. His Oeuvre can be defined as moving between the Post impressionism and Constructive Cubism.
