biography

Arie Aroch, (Nisselevitch), Painter. b. 198, Kharkov, Russia. Immigrated 1924. Professional Studies: 1924 Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem; 1934-35 Colarossi, Paris, with Leger; later studied in Amsterdam. Prizes: 1968 Sandberg Prize for an Israeli Artist, Israel Museum Jerusalem; Dizengoff Prize; 1971 Israel Prize. Painted together with Meirowitz in Zichron Yaakov. 1937 Designed stage scenery for Ohel and Habima Theatres; 1947 Became a member of the New Horizons Group; 1949-53 worked in Israel Diplomatic Corps in Moscow; 1956-59 Israeli Ambassador to Brazil; 1959-62 Israeli Ambassdor to Sweden; 1963 Foreign Office, Jerusalem.
